highlights

  • Games are full-ice; practices may include both full-ice and half-ice sessions

  • No body checking permitted
  • Dedicated goalie model – hybrid goalies are not used

season format

Seeding Round - typically late October through early December

  • Used to assess the relative strength of teams within a tier in the North zone
  • Teams play a series of games against various opponents
  • Based on results, teams may be re-tiered into appropriate competitive groupings

Regular Season - typically starts early December

  • Begins after the Seeding Round
  • Teams compete against similarly tiered opponents in the North zone for the remainder of the season
  • Standings during this phase determine playoff positioning

Esso Minor Hockey Week (EMHW) - early January

  • U13 NWW teams compete only against other teams from the North zone
  • The first game counts toward regular season standings; all other games are standalone tournament play
  • It follows a modified single-elimination format — teams are guaranteed two games, but a second loss eliminates them

Adrenaline City Championships - late February to end of season

  • U13 teams from the North and South zones compete to determine the overall city champion.
  • This is a true double-elimination format — teams remain in the tournament until they’ve lost twice.

U13AA

The Northwest Warriors are proud to field a U13 AA team for the 2025-2026 season as part of the Hockey Alberta Elite League – Calgary Division. This competitive program provides players with an elevated level of play, bridging the gap between Community Hockey and the Elite AAA stream.

U13 AA emphasizes advanced skill development, team play, and a strong commitment to hockey excellence — all while allowing athletes to compete within their home association.
