President’s Message September 17- New COVID Protocols

In response to the Alberta Government’s issuance of a Public Health Emergency we have been working to compile the flood of new information as it relates specifically to the Northwest Warriors and our community facilities.

Everyone is responsible to screen for symptoms.  Please don’t come to the rink if you are sick.

The tables below lay out the rules for our facilities, but I want to highlight 4 key points:

  1. Proof of vaccination will be required for those 12 and over who wish to enter the facilities as of Monday Sept 20.  Come to the rink prepared.
  2. Covid Coordinator/Rink Supervisor volunteers will be neededPlease sign up via the Evaluation Volunteers sign up sheets.
  3. Spectators will be limited.  The best way to guarantee a spot is to volunteer!
  4. There will be zero tolerance for non-compliance.  The facilities have already warned us that non-compliance will result in loss of ice for the rest of the season.  Please do not be the person who puts the season at risk!!
Protocols by facility
As of Sept 20:

Facility Masks & Physical Distancing Vaccine Proof Required* Spectators allowed?
West Hillhurst Yes– unless playing Yes – 12+ No – volunteers only
Brentwood Yes– unless playing No @ 1/3 capacity
Triwood Yes– unless playing Yes – 12+ @ 1/3 capacity
Crowchild Twin Yes– unless playing Yes – 12+ @ 1/3 capacity

*If proof of vaccination is not available, then a negative test from the last 72 hours is acceptable.  Acceptable forms of vaccination proof include Paper immunization records received at immunization appointments OR Paper card printable form from MyHealth Records app OR Digital copies of either of the above.

For any players that are required to miss an evaluation ice time(s), we will use scores to date, previous year’s placement, previous teammates’ current placements and coach and lead evaluator input, for proper group/team placement.

Anyone not wishing to comply with these restrictions can request a refund by contacting admin@nwwarriorshockey.com.  Our refund policy is 75% refunds until the end of evaluations, and 50% after team formation.  Please note that team formation for U7 through U13 will be taking place this weekend.

Let’s work together to follow these protocols in a respectful manner to ensure that the kids can still have a fun, safe and full hockey season!
